YASP is a young persons support project and offers advice, support and practical help to young people, 15 – 25 yrs, under stress – helping you to get your head together.
We currently offer the following services:
A YASP Caseworker is on hand for two afternoons a week to provide confidential advice and guidance on practical issues such as benefits, housing, debt, the law etc. These sessions are on a "first come, first served" basis and are ideal for anyone wishing to access support with emergency issues.
An advioce worker is on hand for an afternoon every 2 weeks. These sessions run on a 'first come, first served' basis and are ideal for anyone wishing to access advice and information on asylum and immigration. The service is free but like all YASP services is only for people aged 15 to 25.
In partnership with Grassroots initiatives, YASP helps run a football group that is an ideal place to come for a relaxed kick around on a Friday evening. You don't have to be Wayne Rooney or David Beckham to take part, you just need a pair of trainers. The football group offers you the opportunity to come and increase your fitness and meet new people, an also offers support on issues such as welfare rights, eductation and training.

YASP runs a FREE Activities Group on a Thursday afternoon and is a great opportunity to have a change in environment, make new friends or just do something a bit different. The group is small and informal and has recently included trips out laser questing, bowling, horse riding and indoor rock climbing. All activities are free so all you have to do to get a place is contact Martin Stanier in advance and turn up before 1pm! See activities for more info.
YASP is always looking for volunteers to help with the day to day running of the Café, particularly in the kitchen. We provide ongoing opportunities to learn new catering skills, make new friends, build confidence and self-esteem whilst gaining experience of working in a busy Café. See cafe for more info.
For more information on any of the above or for an informal chat please contact Martin Stanier ( martin.stanier.yasp@harp-project.org ) or Joe Kisolo-Ssonko ( joe.yasp@harp-project.org ) on 0161 221 3054
