Are you fed up with supermarkets and a food system that’s damaging the environment?
Then come and work for a pioneering mental health organisation that’s in the process of setting up some real alternatives!
Bite is a partnership developing opportunities in local food activities for people at risk of developing poor mental health. We are currently in the process of setting up a vegetable bag scheme based upon sustainable food systems and community led trade.
We are looking to recruit volunteers to co-ordinate bagging and delivery and who would also like to gain valuable experience of working within the mental health sector.
Bagging and delivery co-ordinators would need to be able to work every Wednesday. They would need to be drivers with access to a car and be able to make decisions regarding the bagging of vegetables while working with people with mental health needs. Volunteers would have an awareness of mental health and the barriers faced by people who have experienced mental health issues.

We are now taking orders for our delicious veg bags. Our veg bags are available for collection on Wednesdays at both Park House (North Manchester General Hospital, Crumpsall, M8 5RB) and the Zion Community Centre (339 Stretford Road, Hulme, M15 4ZY) from 3pm til 6pm. We will be extending the scheme to additional locations across Manchester in the coming months.
Bags are available in two sizes - Small (£6 per week) and Regular (£10 per week). We require payments a month in advance, which can be made by cheque or standing order.
