HARP's Aims
◊ To improve the quality of life of people with mental health needs.
◊ To enable people with mental health needs to fulfil their potential.
◊ To enable people with mental health needs to continue to live in the community.
◊ To support people whilst in hospital due to mental health needs and ensure a successful transition back to the community.
◊ To develop innovative practice in the mental health field, where appropriate in collaboration with other agencies.
HARP's Values
Achieving and maintaining good mental health is dependant on many factors such as suitable housing, freedom from excessive financial strain, purposeful activities and social contacts that help to improve self-esteem.
People with mental health needs are entitled to live a full satisfying and dignified life.
To provide client-centred services to empower people with mental health needs.
We provide our services in a flexible and non-judgmental way and actively challenge discrimination and prejudice.
Our services are easily and readily accessible to all those who may need them.
HARP has been around since 1989 and has built a solid reputation in Manchester as a provider of services to people with mental health problems. We now have 36 dedicated and enthusiastic staff and 31 volunteers working for our five projects across Manchester. All our services try to help people take control over their lives, to feel empowered and to realise their dreams and ambitions.
At HARP we always listen to feedback from our service-users about the services we provide, how they can be improved and to involve them as volunteers or paid workers. We have a positive attitude towards employing people who have used or are using mental health services. We work towards the principle that everyone can recover with the right support, help and advice.
Our work is overseen by the Board of Trustees, who bring an enormous amount of skills and experience to HARP. Most of HARP's funding comes from statutory funders such as Manchester Joint Commissioning Team and the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund. We also receive funds from trusts and companies.
